Lies Bothered Tony Too
Though generally of a favorable frame of mind, like me, Tony was bothered by disinformation, misinformation, and pisinformation. Here’s some nuisances he shared with me now and then.
The Truth Can Be Annoying
Good is such an awful word.
Something just ain’t right when athletes expect equal prize (money) for unequal effort. Come on, people. Have some balls. Speak up! Tennis, Olympic Slalom, et al.?
This is awful on so many levels, but we are forced to talk about it. No, you are talking about it because it is awful on so many levels and you can promote, purvey, and portray a holier-than-thou image at the expense of the awfulness.
Men lie. Women lie. Coaches really lie especially when talking about a slacker and anything potentially creating a realistic but piddling or mediocre image for “the team.”
New tax cuts will save taxpayers billions and for billions of taxpayers the savings are imperceptible.
Only people with too much money or those spending other people’s money can give an unproven guy a 7-year, $62 million contract.
Only people who don’t care about others, give people more money for less work.
She is one of those humans who thinks she is separate from the world around her.
Only the billionaire elite create economic disasters to profit from them.

Fan Mail
I see a red door
And I want it painted black
No colors anymore
I want them to turn black…
I thought I heard the captain say
Pay me my money down
Tomorrow is our sailing day
Pay me my money down…
Some say love, it is a river
That drowns the tender reed
Some say love, it is a razor
That leaves your soul to bleed…
I can’t believe the news today
Oh, I can’t close my eyes and make it go away
How long, how long must we sing this song?
How long? How long?…
A winter’s day
In a deep and dark December
I am alone
Gazing from my window to the streets below
On a freshly fallen silent shroud of snow
I am a rock I am an island…
Johnny’s in the basement
Mixing up the medicine
I’m on the pavement
Thinking about the government
The man in the trench coat
Badge out, laid off
Says he’s got a bad cough
Wants to get it paid off
Look out kid
It’s somethin’ you did
God knows when…
Rows and floes of angel hair
And ice cream castles in the air
And feather canyons everywhere
I’ve looked at clouds that way
But now they only block the sun
They rain and snow on everyone
So many things I would have done
But clouds got in my way…

Who Are You and What Do You Do?
I don’t know if the kind of work I do is gonna make a difference.
I don’t have to know if the kind of work I do is gonna make a difference, I do it anyway.
I don’t care if the kind of work I do don’t make a difference, I do it anyway.
It’s the kind of work you know is not gonna make a difference and you do it anyway.
He was the kind of guy who excessively celebrates after making a meaningless play in a game his team is losing 56-3.
