A Litany of Litigation

It’s the new-new. The Internet and social media have made it possible to make a living lying and selling crap when the only qualifications for doing it seem to be having been around so many guys doing it that you think you can do it too.

Tony made a living filing and winning lawsuits against national and local station “personalities” for telling lies and making false claims in on-air advertising bits. He also made a lot of money from them when the same reprobates were telling lies and peddling bogus betting advice that cost him a lot of money. On Mondays, he filed suit against weekend liars; on Tuesdays, he filed suit against Monday’s lies; on Wednesdays, he filed suit against Tuesday’s lies; on Thursdays, he filed suit against Wednesday’s lies; and, on Fridays, he filed suit against whatever false claims were left from the week. He never regretted taking money from “Cartoon Kenny Mayne,” “Mooch” Mariucci, and other guys (as in men, women, and networks) who got good money for promoting “responsible” gambling and spreading misinformation and lying about the risks in sports betting and other activities.

…the guys who led him to believe he could single-handedly change his relationship with food…

…the guys who promised he would win big on BET MGM Sportsbook…

…the guys who led him to believe driving with no hands on the wheel or while slappy tapping to a song is dope…

…the guys who led him to believe he could boost his credit score instantly…

…the guys who led him to believe he would be good if he set limits and stuck to them, tracked his bets, and only bet what he could afford…

…the guys who led him to believe he could save money and talk with a real tax expert…

…the guys who led him to believe that all he had to do to get a great job was to upload his resume…indeed he/she/they did…

Tony was moved to tears when he heard that lawmakers in several states proposed legislation that would hold companies accountable for the damage their platforms took on the mental health of young people and others and that the actions coincided with calls in Washington to implement oversight in the technology cesspool to help keep kids and others safe. He celebrated for days when he learned that jurors awarded millions in punitive damages to parents of a child killed in a school shooting for suffering caused by lies spread by a leader of a misinformation-peddling media outlet. After that, his mantra was: Punish those who profit from lies, misinformation, and lying. But because it was started and served by lawmakers it never happened.
