“You have to read a lot to be a writer” never made sense to me. What did make sense was that you have to write a lot to be a writer. Kathy Reichs is not a friend of mine, but I love listening to books she has written. Much like the process shared in A Conspiracy of Bones, I write this blog by collecting comments, lists, and stories that help me think and see it is possible (the ant phase), make drafts and sketches that show it is plausible (the paper phase), and finally put fingers to keys to see it is practical (the computer phase). Now I am not a great writer and have suffered with a massively low image of myself on many levels for many years but knowing the frame of a great writer helps make the blog happen and I am grateful for having found it at the write time.
